Something has gone wrong, or you would like to say so

Write to us. A person reads it. There is no ticket number, no chatbot, and no form that goes nowhere.

contact@provenancethegame.com

We answer in English and in French. If you are writing about a purchase, include the date and the pack; if you are writing about a room, the four-letter code helps, though rooms are deleted six hours after they are created and the code will not outlive that.

Questions we are asked

  • How do I join a room?

Ask whoever opened it for the four letters, choose Join a room, and type them in. Everyone must be on the same room at the same time — Provenance is played in one place, out loud, with the phones as scorecards.

  • What happens if the host leaves?

The room carries on. If the host's phone goes quiet for fifteen seconds, the player who has been in the room longest becomes the host, silently, and the game continues from the round it was on. If everybody leaves, the room ends.

  • I bought a pack and cannot see it.

Open Settings in the app and choose Restore purchases. Packs are tied to the Apple ID that bought them, so check you are signed in to the same one. If it is still missing, write to us with the date of the purchase and we will look.

  • How do I restore purchases?

Settings, then Restore purchases. It asks Apple what your Apple ID owns and unlocks it on this device. It is free, it works on any number of devices, and you can do it as often as you like.

  • Is my data collected?

Barely. A display name, a random identifier that is not your device's advertising identifier, and your votes for as long as the room lives — six hours. No account, no email address, no analytics, no tracking. The privacy policy is short and lists everything.

  • How do I ask for a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — we never see your payment details and cannot issue one. Request it at reportaproblem.apple.com or through your purchase history in the App Store. If you are in the EU, your statutory rights are set out in the terms of use.

Bugs, and things that are merely annoying

Both are worth reporting. Tell us the model of iPhone, the version of iOS, what you were doing, and what happened instead. A screenshot settles most arguments.

A card that should not be in the deck

The game is about taste and pretension, which people choose. It is not about circumstance, and no card is about a real person. If one has landed badly, quote it to us and say why. We remove cards.
